Are you spending hours tracking the latest hashtag trends to boost your Instagram visibility? Do you think hashtags are a waste of time because your posts aren’t reaching your audience, regardless of what you write?

Then you need an AI hashtag generator.

The ever-changing Instagram algorithm is sophisticated and discerning – even worse, it can be ruthless. This can make your life complicated when you’re trying to come up with a solid strategy to boost your visibility.

In this article, I’ll break down how the best AI hashtag generators work and compare their strengths.

These powerful yet simple tools can help transform your Instagram strategy from guesswork into a results-driven approach that connects you with not just a bigger audience, but the right one.

Let’s dive in!

Best AI Hashtag Generators to Boost Your Instagram Visibility

With so many AI tools promising to solve all your problems, it’s hard to know which ones are actually worth your time and money.

That’s why I’ve narrowed down the top AI hashtag generators to help you find the right fit. These tools stand out because they’re trained to understand context, brand identity, and your target audience, making your content smarter and more discoverable.

None of these tools spit out random hashtags like #love or #instagood that will get you nowhere. This is because they’re all part of larger digital marketing solutions.

That said, you don’t always need to subscribe to the full platform. In many cases, the hashtag generator is available as a free, standalone tool.

So, whether you’re looking for a complete marketing solution or a quick and easy-to-use tool, I’m sure you’ll find something helpful in this list.

Ahrefs

Ahrefs is a digital marketing platform with multiple tools – many of them powered by AI. It has three pricing plans starting at $119 per month.

Don’t worry, though; you don’t need a budget to use some of its fantastic features. There’s a free AI Instagram Hashtag Generator among its AI writing tools.

This is a great way to boost your reach on Instagram without wasting time. Simply upload or drop the image from your post.

It supports JPG, PNG, and GIF files if they’re smaller than 10 MB. Then, select how many hashtags you want it to generate for you – five, 10, or 20.

Choose if you want the result as a numbered list or a one-line result, and click Generate Hashtags. The AI tool will scan the photo and generate relevant hashtags.

However, you can add a text description or input keywords if you want it to be more accurate. You can type up to 2048 characters.

Ahrefs also has other AI-driven tools specifically for Instagram, such as a Name Generator and a Caption Generator.

It also has generic tools for social media, and specific tools for other platforms such as TikTok or YouTube.

Whether you’re a content creator, influencer, or digital marketing specialist, Ahrefs is the tool you need. They have a vast infrastructure dedicated to SEO and marketing, so they can train their models with petabytes of information.

Canva

Canva is a graphic design platform that helps beginners and professionals create a wide variety of visual content (check out our beginner’s guide to Canva if you want to get started in design).

One of the most popular uses for Canva is the creation of social media posts.

Canva has a freemium model. So, you can access many of its tools and assets for free, while others require a premium paid account.

The Instagram Hashtag Generator is powered by their AI tool Magic Write™ and offers 50 queries for free. After that, you’ll need a Canva Pro subscription.

Unlike Ahrefs’ generator, you can’t input your image into the generator. In this case, it’s all based on a text prompt.

One of the great things it has, though, is that it delivers a huge list of hashtags divided by category. This way, it’s easier for you to select the best ones.

A woman swims underwater in clear ocean water; Instagram hashtag suggestions for nature, ocean, freedom, and adventure are listed on the right.

Also, Canva’s IG hashtag generator can create hashtags in up to 20 languages. You can always use Canva’s AI-powered translator to reach an even wider audience if you need more.

The great thing about Canva is that you can also create and design your entire post, from generating AI images to using their stock photos, from using a template to adding animation or text.

A person edits a nature-themed graphic in Canva, featuring underwater scenery and text, with various font options displayed on the left sidebar.

You can then post directly to Instagram or schedule a post if you have an Instagram Business account.

Inflact

Inflact is a marketing toolkit specifically designed for Instagram. One of the tools it offers is an AI-powered hashtag generator. Since this generator is specifically designed for Instagram, you know that you’ll get popular and relevant results.

To generate hashtags on Inflact, you can choose between using keywords, uploading a picture, or pasting the URL to a post.

This last option is something I haven’t seen on other generators, and I believe it can be pretty useful. Perhaps, you can use this feature to edit your hashtags if your post isn’t getting as many views or interactions.

It can also be helpful if you’re the new social media manager taking over a client’s account who has already been posting for a while. This feature will allow you to organize past posts, redirect to a new target, audience, etc.

Another great tool Inflact offers is the ability to review and copy trending hashtags. You can filter them by Today, Last 7 days, Last Month, or All Time to browse them.

You can also browse the hashtags by topic, choosing from travel, food, photography, and many other categories.

On their page, you’ll also find YouTube tutorials and tips on finding the best hashtags, performing a cross-language hashtag search, and more.

You can download the Hashtag generator as an app to use on your iPhone or Android.

On the downside, Inflact’s hashtag generator is not free. You can subscribe only to this feature by visiting the Custom area on the Pricing page.

Alternatively, you can get a Pro membership, which is the highest tier, and it will include the hashtag generator among the multiple other features.

Hootsuite

Screenshot of Hootsuite's Instagram hashtag generator webpage, showing input fields for language, description, and keywords, and buttons for generating hashtags or uploading a photo.

Hootsuite’s hashtag tool is powered by ChatGPT 3.5, allowing you to generate hashtags from text or images.

If you choose to use text, select from one of the five supported languages. Then, type a description and some keywords – you have up to 200 words on each category.

Alternatively, you can use a picture and instantly generate hashtags as you upload it.

There’s a handy step-by-step guide on the page that will help you get better results. I know you may think that you don’t need a guide to use an AI generator. However, prompt engineering makes all the difference.

A woman swims underwater in a clear, sunlit ocean; her arm is extended forward and the sandy seabed is visible below. Hashtags for ocean-themed posts are listed on the left.

Here, Hootsuite gives a brief explanation of what to include in the description and how to choose the most efficient keywords based on SEO, your niche market, etc. This way, the hashtags generated will be more relevant and therefore, more efficient.

You’ll also find other tips and YouTube tutorials to help you improve your digital marketing strategy and social media presence.

Hootsuite also has other AI-powered tools like a caption generator, an engagement rate calculator, etc. They’re not just for Instagram; you can use Hootsuite for your other social media channels. Many of these features are free.

However, Hootsuite offers much more than its AI-generator tools. You can also use it for your Google Analytics, team productivity reports, messaging, customer service, etc.

There are two pricing tiers, which have a free 30-day trial. You can also request a demo for a Custom Enterprise plan.

Predis

Predis is a platform designed to help agencies, creators, e-commerce shops, and others boost their digital marketing. It offers multiple AI tools to generate content and ads.

One of the tools available is the Hashtag Generator for Instagram. You can input keywords (up to 30 characters) or upload an image.

On the downside, the amount of text you can input on the prompt is quite limited. It also doesn’t provide many customization tools. That said, it has a very positive side: it’s completely free.

Also, it’s possible to filter by relevance or by reach. Simply click on the ones you like to select them and add them to the list. Once done, click Copy and paste them into your Instagram post or reel.

A person swims underwater in a pool, with sunlight filtering through the water. On the left, hashtags related to marine life and swimming are listed on a website interface.

You can also sign up for a free account and get 15 AI credits to generate content and publish in up to 5 channels. If you decide to upgrade to a premium membership, the plans start at $27 per month. You can find many videos with tutorials and use cases on their website.

Back to the hashtag generator, it’s worth mentioning that you can download it as an app. This way, you can use it on your phone, whether you have an iPhone or an Android device.

HASHTAG

Person swimming underwater in clear, turquoise water with sunlight visible on the surface; hashtags related to water, tranquility, and movement displayed on the right.

HASHTAG (all-hashtag.com) is a website dedicated to boosting your social media visibility through the use of hashtags.

This may sound simple, but hashtags are a powerful tool, and the Instagram algorithm makes it challenging to use them to their full potential all on your own.

So, HASHTAG has different features to help creators, content managers, influencers, small businesses, or anyone using social media.

Of course, it has an AI hashtag generator – otherwise, it wouldn’t be on this list. So, use the type-to-hashtag generator if you prefer to use keywords, or upload a photo if you prefer the image-to-hashtag generator.

Whichever input you choose, you’ll get a set of AI-generated hashtags to choose from. You can either copy all of them with a single click or you can select your favourites and create a subset to copy.

You can use it for free and without creating an account. However, working with an account will set higher limits of use and give you better results.

It also has a Hashtag Creator tool. This shouldn’t be confused with the AI generator. In this case, you simply type all the words and phrases you want to turn into hashtags, and it will add all the crosshatch icon (#) for you to copy and paste on your post.

A dashboard displays analytics for the hashtag #underwater, including its ranking, related keywords, and a bar chart comparing hashtag performance with others like #love and #instagood.

You’ll also find a hashtag counter to check for duplicates, density, and other optimizations of your text before posting. There’s also a Top Hashtag curated list if you want to know the trends.

Last but not least, an Analytics tool will give you details on ranking, comparison, frequency of use, etc.

VEED

A website interface displays hashtag ideas for "European beaches, swimming, ocean, freedom," with a list of related hashtags and buttons for editing or copying.

The hashtag generator from veed.io is free to use. It only gives you the option to type keywords, though. However, with the right input, it can be extremely helpful.

Simply type the keywords and press Generate Hashtags. There’s no need to create an account or pay anything. You’ll receive up to 20 AI-generated hashtags that you can copy using the icon and paste into your Instagram post.

If you want hashtags for TikTok or YouTube, you’ll need to input this on the keyword bar.

You can create an account and subscribe to a free plan to use other AI tools from VEED, such as the video editor. Of course, you can also upgrade to a paid membership to unlock more features, remove the watermark, and get other perks.
